On 11 September 2026, VC Power proudly celebrated a major milestone with the successful Steel Cutting Ceremony for a 26-metre Full Electric Tug, which is set to become the first fully electric tug in Indonesia. The ceremony was held at PT United Sindo Perkasa shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, officially marking the commencement of vessel construction.

The project is supported by designer, Kenton Marine, leveraging its valuable experience and expertise from the development of electric tugs in China. This experience provides a strong technical foundation for adapting proven electric-tug solutions to the Indonesian market and operating environment. The vessel is being constructed under the classification of Bureau Veritas, ensuring compliance with stringent standards for safety, quality, and technical performance.

The successful steel cutting reflects the strong collaboration and shared commitment of all project stakeholders to advancing practical and sustainable maritime solutions in Southeast Asia. The project represents an important step towards the deployment of next-generation electric harbour tugs and the wider decarbonisation of port and maritime operations.
VC Power would like to express its sincere appreciation to Kenton Marine for its vessel design expertise and experience in electric-tug development, and to Bureau Veritas for its valuable technical and classification support throughout the project.
Together, we are turning maritime electrification into practical solutions and accelerating the industry’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable operations.
